Today, Wednesday the 8th of October is World Dyslexia Day and marks the start of our Dyslexia Awareness Week at St. Fintan’s High School. We started today with handing out red ribbons for Dyslexia Awareness to all students upon arriving at school and in key areas of the school we have installed Red Ribbon Displays giving information about dyslexia and profiling famous faces who have dyslexia.
We have a range of events planned over the coming week including quizzes, red workshops and a Bake Sale next Wednesday to raise funds for the Aen Department and a talk by the artist Ciaran McCoy for senior students to discuss his experiences with having dyslexia. Our Bake Sale last year enabled us to buy new E-Readers for the AEN Department and we hope to be able to add to these resources in the coming year.
Here’s to an interesting and eventful week celebrating diversity and inclusion across our school community!
