Goodbye Class of 2022

We are delighted to congratulate our graduating Class of 2022. We kicked off our goodbyes with a Teacher vs. Student match on the Friday, followed by a guard of honour formed by the teachers as the students left the school. A great, celebratory graduation night was held on the 23rd of May! These students have shown enormous resilience through all of the challenges presented by the Covid Pandemic and we are very proud of them. We wish them best of luck in their upcoming Leaving Certificate Exams and for their futures and careers going forward.

TY Term News

It’s been another busy and exciting term for our Transition Year students. Here are a few highlights! The TY Ski Trip to Tarvisio in February was a great success with many laughs, achievements and a few tumbles!! The TY soccer team progressed to the next round of the TY Cup beating Castleknock CC 7-1 in February. It was a brilliant performance with some excellent goals from Tom McEntagart, Conor Ennis, Senan Dixon, Jack Mc Dermott, Paddy Fogarty, Louis Martin and Mark Hogan. Our students did a film workshop with Burning House Productions in March. The students really immersed themselves in the process and learnt lots about the filming process. Congratulations to the TY cast and crew of Shrek the Musical. They blew the roof off during three stellar performances in March. We had two student enterprise groups competing in the Fingal Enterprise Awards. Strip Swiper (Mark Hogan) and Crop Cards (Edward Liu, Seth Gosker & Andrej Punic) worked tirelessly with the help of Ms. Browne. Huge congratulations to Mark Hogan and his business Strip Swiper who won the Innovation Award at the awards. Mark created a sustainable cleaner for plastic PVC strip curtains. Well done to our budding TY architects who completed the Architects in Schools Programme in March culminating with a presentation to our principal, Kathy Mullen. Their Beo Bay plans demonstrated their wonderful creativity, social conscience and design. Thanks to our architect Muhammad Achour.

Sports Round Up

Were drawing close to the end of term and looking back at a few of the many sporting highlights this term! For the second year in a row, St. Fintan’s High School won the Fr. Godfrey Cup in March. A final play penalty from Ben Barnes secured a 24-23 win over an excellent Presentation Bray side. Congratulations to two St Fintan’s men on becoming captains of their respective Dublin hurling teams. Joe Sheppard will captain the Dublin Minor Hurlers while Sean Gallagher will captain the U20 hurlers. Brilliant to see such leadership emerge from the school.
