The highlight was the Museé D’Orsay where our students got to see the paintings from class discussions in real life including the famous Olympia and Dejeuner sur l’Herbe by Manet along with works by Van Gogh, Renoir and Monet. The group enjoyed climbing the Arc de Triomphe, a guided tour of the Museé Picasso, artist’s working in residence at 59 Rivoli, the big climb to Sacre Coeur and a guided tour of the newly renovated Notre Dame not to mention getting in practice for their French orals. Happy Chinese New Year of the Horse !

We’re having a fantastic week celebrating Chinese New Year of the Horse! The school is awash with colour and decoration and in a nod to Japan and Cherry Blossom Season, we have installed a Cherry Blossom installation made up of cutout flowers made by 1st Year and TY Religion and SPHE students. Our installation is a clear reminder that Spring is on the way at last. We began the week with handing out Fortune Cookies to students during big break on Monday and announcing the start of our celebrations. On Thursday, we ran Chinese boardgames in the cafeteria at lunchtime where students enjoyed playing chequers, card games, Mah Jong and a special Year of the Horse picture puzzle created by Ms. Gallagher. Today, we will celebrate with games and entertainment, Jianzi, music and fortune telling at lunchtime. Wishing everyone a very Happy Chinese New Year of the Horse! More photos to follow of today’s celebrations to follow on Monday!
