St Fintan’s High School introduced the sport of rugby in 2001, and with the help of Suttonians RFC, it has gone from strength to strength over the course of the past twenty years.

The school has achieved significant success in Leinster Schools Competitions, progressing from the Senior Development Cup in 2007 to qualification for the Leinster Schools Senior Cup in 2017 and 2018.

In recognition of exceptional performances for their school, numerous students have been fortunate enough to be selected to represent both Leinster and Ireland at an underage level. The most notable of these are Jack Aungier, who is a professional player with Connacht and represented Ireland at the U20 Junior World Cup in 2018, and Sean Cribbin, an Ireland Sevens International who helped Ireland qualify for the Olympics for the first time in their history in 2021.

The school has four teams across the six year groups. A 1st Year, 2nd Year, 3rd Year (JCT) and SCT Team (4th – 6th Years), with training and home matches taking place after school in Suttonians RFC.
