At the forefront of Junior Cycle in St. Fintan’s High School is the desire to support and nurture our younger students as they join the school community.

First Year students are taught at mixed ability levels throughout their initial year in the school as well as being introduced to the optional subjects available for selection in Second and Third Year.

In Second Year students are banded based on ability in Irish and Maths but remain in mixed ability classes for all other subjects. The key skills outlined in the NCCA Framework for Junior Cycle lie at the heart of teaching and learning in all subjects and schemes of work.
